Did You Know that 21 is the Name of a Sport?
Before delving into other realms of sports, it is worth noting that 21 is a name of a sport in and of itself. It is a sort of basketball game where every player plays for himself. - 21 points are required in order to win. It is worth noting that in the original ping pong game the winning score was a 21. This was changed by the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) to 11 in order to make the games more exciting and fast paced. It is worth pointing out that also in the game of blackjack the score of 21 is what players strive to achieve. Perhaps there is some mathematical or mystical meaning to defining the accumulating of 21 points as a goal. Theories on such subjects I will leave to people more knowledgeable than I. Even so, read on to see that many great players have worn the number 21 during their sports careers.
Famous 21 Sportsmen
In fact, there are several famous sportsmen whose number was 21. These include such famous baseball players as; Roberto Clemente, a hall of fame outfielder from the Pittsburgh Pirates and Warren Spahn, a hall of fame pitcher of the Boston Braves. The number 21 is special not only in baseball. Hall of fame basketball player, Dominique Wilkins also wears the number 21 as well as Tim Duncan (a current NBA basketball star). Other sports enjoy this fame as well. Famous 21 footballers include Andrea Pirlo and Nery Castillo. Even hockey has its big names wearing 21. These include such players as Peter Forsberg and Mike Eruzione. As you can see there are many world class champions whose number is 21. Could this be a coincidence that so many excellent players all share the same number? Perhaps so, it stands to reason that similar amounts of equally famous players will be found for other numbers as well. Even so, it is certainly fun to imagine that there is something especially lucky and sporty about the number 21 and this may even be true too! Who knows?
